Life with 150 plants.

Hi, my name is Eryn and I am addicted to all things plants.

So I must live in a jungle then if I live with 150 plants right? I wish! I live in a 1200 sq ft main floor apartment with a lot of natural light and my plants are spread through out and strategically placed and plenty of rooms to place them in, it’s a lot of plants but it’s not too overwhelming.

Now I would never recommend buying so many plants all at once but gradually over time, learn each one and what it likes otherwise you may have a lot of casualties on your hands and become discouraged. Learn what works best for your space and what you can give your plants. I have been collecting plants for 4 years now or so and im still learning, and have casualties and its okay, as long as I am taking the time to learn. I am not a pro, but have a lot of passion and love for growing plants, a lot has been trial and error, research and seeking advice from the instagram plant community.

Why do I have so many plants? Good question. To me, plants give me such a feeling of contentedness and lend such a peaceful cozy feeling to any space and the more I have the more cozy I feel.

My mom passed last year from along battle with cancer, I got my love and passion for plants from her, she had such a green thumb and a creative mind, she raised 8 kids, so she was very good at nurturing, being attentive and loving. Caring for plants came very naturally to her. Plants are a way of connecting with her. They are also very calming to me, to walk around look at how they are doing, pruning, clearing fallen leaves, checking for pest, and watering them, I have anxiety and get panic attacks and this is one way I get reprieve and distraction.

All those things aside, having so many plants can be challenging, it can be a lot of work and discouraging at times like I mentioned earlier. Its hard not to let yourself get carried away. You have to remind yourself it’s not about having all the plants or a competition as to who has the most plants, doesn’t matter how many you have if you can not keep them alive, or care for them properly. I quite often have to take a step back and think about those things.

Watching your plants grow that you care for so much, especially that one that looks like it’s doing so poorly then you finally figure out the right conditions for it and it perks its self up and starts growing new leaves and looking more green and lush, it becomes so rewarding and totally worth having so many plants. the feeling makes you feel that you can take on more and more challenging plants. But be careful! The feeling can become quite addicting. haha

Through this blog based on @leaves.and.bones I will share my passion for all things plants with you and some side passions, share some advice, highlight some of my favourite plants, some styling tips, inspiration, and diys.
